If you recall, back in June, I had WAHM rockstar Nicole Dean as guest blogger here. She gave us her precious tips and strategies for making a full-time income from home as an Internet marketer, while caring for her children and husband (and dogs, there’s dogs involved here).
Well, one of the [...]

If you recall, back in June, I had WAHM rockstar Nicole Dean as guest blogger here. She gave us her precious tips and strategies for making a full-time income from home as an Internet marketer, while caring for her children and husband (and dogs, there’s dogs involved here).

Well, one of the resources Nicole recommended was Homepreneur Habits by her mentor, Jimmy D. Brown. I grabbed that very affordable report and have been meaning to write my review of it, but just haven’t been able to. So I’ve got something that’s probably even better.

I thought I would share an excerpt of Homepreneur Habits with you.

Jimmy D. Brown is so generous – he’s a genuinely nice, non-guru-type guy – and he agreed, so here it is.

Excerpt: Homepreneur Habits by Jimmy D. Brown

Hello, this is Jimmy D. Brown, author of the SR Zone Reports.

One of the questions that I get a lot from members of List And Traffic (as well as from my other customers and even subscribers) is this -

What does your home office look like?

There is a lot of interest in learning about the equipment I use, the setup of my office, my daily routine, etc. So, I’ve decided to create this report that I’m entitling, “Homepreneur Habits: How To Run A Successful Home Business”.

My goal for this series is to teach you some basic setup and operations for establishing and maintaining your own home business office. Which, ultimately, will translate into more efficiency, productivity and … profitability!

Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, I think some of the insights that I’ll be giving you into how my own office and business is organized and operated will be beneficial to you in your own pursuits.

And, YES, just so you know, I really do work in my pajamas! In fact, as I’m writing this article I’m sitting here in my Ralph Lauren Polo pajamas and a white t-shirt. My wife snapped this picture just a couple of minutes ago…

(Warning: This is Jimmy in the morning in his pajamas … not for the faint at heart

Continue on at your own risk.

No lifeguards on duty.

Turn back, turn back, turn back.

Okay, you were warned…

(picture removed — only for customers)

You really can operate your own business in your pajamas. Or anything else for that matter. But, please, no file-sharing. I’ll take you at your word when you tell me you work in the same pair of holey underwear from college just to remind you of where you came from.

Okay, back to the point. I’ve got this series divided into three parts…

Homepreneur Habits: How To Run A Successful Home Business

Lesson #1: The PRINCIPLES Of A Successful Homepreneur

Lesson #2: The PARAPHERNALIA Of A Successful Homepreneur

Lesson #3: The PRACTICES Of A Successful Homepreneur

In our first lesson we’ll look at some guidelines or “rules” that I go by in organizing and operating my home office. Lesson two will cover specific equipment that I use in my daily operations. And in lesson three I’ll share how to organize your schedule for increased productivity and results.

I’ll be sharing lots of visuals as you’ll be given an “all access” tour of my own home office.

All of this begins in our next lesson.

—– End of Excerpt —-

To continue reading the entire 64 page report, just swing by Homepreneur Habits and grab it while it’s such a steal. Jimmy has written a lot of courses, but many of his loyal customers have said this is their absolute favorite. Check it out: Homepreneur Habits

I promise to post my review soon.

It was my very first live interview for an Internet radio show. I thought I would be more nervous, but Kelli and her co-host, Regina Smola, were so gracious that it was just like chatting with friends!

I “met” Kelli on Twitter, so you could say that we’re friends after all.

Anyway, I hope you’ll listen to the interview, get to know me a little better, and pick up some nuggets of wisdom I’ve learned in about 1 year of self-employment.

Let me know what you think by posting a comment below. Thank you!

Ooh, I am so stoked! An affiliate marketer and affiliate manager extraordinaire is guest blogging in “My Life Shift” all of next week!

Those of you who know my work-at-home story know that this person is one of the most important people in my freelancing and Internet marketing career. She was the very first Internet marketer who ever hired me to write for her. Yeah, way back when I didn’t even have a professional website, portfolio or a single testimonial to my name. She took a chance on me.

I took a chance on her, too. When I was researching my work at home opportunities and feeling like everybody on the ‘net was a scammer, I signed up for her newsletter – not knowing that she would help change my life a year later.

Which goes to show: if you want to succeed – in anything, whether online or offline – you have to choose the right mentor.

Well, let’s not keep the suspense any longer. Here she is:

Nicole Dean, affiliate manager for Jimmy Brown, one of the most trusted names online, and one cool Mom and business woman, will be posting on this blog from June 15-19, 2009. Nik will be sharing her wisdom with those who want to make money online.

You won’t want to miss it, so check back here daily next week!

Week 3 of the Mass Control course is called “The Mass Control Formula Revealed.”

This is where all the elements discussed in earlier weeks come together. The crux of this module is the entire Process Map which diagrams the Mass Control process. It is, essentially, a sales process, beginning with the Howitzer method and “united front” approach, up to the downsells and upsells.

Now this is where my mind just tuned out.

The material is too advanced for a beginner infoproduct marketer like me. And I can imagine that the entire process requires the hiring of a programmer who can put the various elements in place. I definitely couldn’t do it. Another requirement to implement the entire process is a feature-rich e-commerce service. I’m sure One Shopping Cart could do it, but not the $5-a-month service I get from e-junkie.

So as with everything else in the Mass Control course so far, I pick and choose which parts I can apply – not only in launching and promoting my own infoproduct – but in my work as a freelance copywriter.

Frankly, I was surprised that a number of clients were impressed by the fact that I was going through the Mass Control course. Well, Frank Kern is a heck of a copywriter after all. So at the very least, the Mass Control course is teaching me some incredible copywriting strategies. If only for that, the course has been worthwhile.

There is something in Week 3 that I appreciated very much. It’s an exercise, which helps you get to the heart of your target market. It’s very simple – just a set of questions – plus an interesting exercise that I haven’t come across in any of the copywriting courses I’ve seen.

But I find these assignments to be as precious as diamonds. Every time I write anything for my market, whether it’s an email, a squeeze page or an entire sales letter, all I have to do is go back to my Week 3 assignments and the words just flow. It’s a very important process for truly bonding with your target market.

I won’t go into any more detail than this. You’ll have to buy Mass Control next time Frank Kern makes it available. And don’t worry, I am not an affiliate so I won’t make or lose money with my reviews. I’m just telling you how it’s been for me, so you can decide for yourself if Mass Control is for you. It’s a significant investment, so you really have to give it a lot of thought. I hope my posts will help you make the right decision for you.

Where was this guide when I was getting started online a year ago? This would have saved me hours of learning and hundreds of dollars in training materials! This workbook is author Kelly McCausey’s “labor of love” and it shows. It is the most complete guide to making money online that I have ever read.

Kelly begins by urging the reader to do a thorough self-assessment of skills, experience, personality, interests and even spiritual gifts. Then she guides the reader to an analysis of a target market – a step that many home-based workers gloss over.

Click here to read more about The Complete Internet Marketing Moms Start Up Guide

And then Kelly gives a step-by-step guide to the various components of a home-based Internet marketing business. She covers websites and blogging, article marketing, social networking, Email marketing, even infoproduct marketing and podcasting. She also gives tips on how to get work done at home when small children are underfoot. There’s so much more in this workbook – copywriting, press releases, paid advertising and more – that I just cannot name them all, for fear of getting as long as the workbook itself.

As usual with Kelly’s infoproducts, this workbook is well written, easy to understand, clear and action-oriented. The recommended services, websites and other resources are also valuable – again, I wish I’d had this workbook much earlier.

The only thing I’m looking for is a diagram to tie all the pieces together. That’s because I’m a visual person and like to see the big picture of things, to have a mind map of sorts that will keep me from getting “lost”. Other than that, this is an excellent guide indeed.

And even though I’ve been marketing online for almost a year now, I still found a number of nuggets. I’ll definitely be keeping this workbook handy to refer to when I expand into new arenas of Internet marketing…. There could be a podcast in my future, after all.
