Mass Control Diary: Week 2
Here’s the second entry in my Mass Control diary. I posted my first entry on March 6th, so you can see that I am far behind on this course! (But I have a good reason: I have been inundated by some very good clients – to the extent that I have been turning away clients. I’ve had to say no to 3 clients, in fact. This is the first time ever that I’ve had to do this.)
Back to Mass Control. I decided to test the 4-Day Cash Machine with a joint venture partner who has a list of over 6,000 members. Wow, I thought, even with a conversion rate of 1% we would do very well. But guess what? Our 4-Day Cash Machine experiment was a major FAIL! From that list, we got an incredible result of seven sales. You read that right – only seven people from that list of more than 6,000 responded positively to the “irresistible offer” and grabbed my partner’s product. My earnings from this little experiment: $116.68. That is not a typo, there isn’t a 0 or a comma missing. That’s really my half of the “profits”.

I did something unusual and courageous. I signed up for a darn expensive Internet marketing course!
If you know me at all, you know that I am averse to spending money on Internet marketing materials. I guess this just goes to show how amazing Frank Kern is in selling stuff to the Internet marketing crowd!
After a lot of prayer, considering the opinions of my mentors, and getting my husband’s agreement, I bought Mass Control 2.0. DH had a clear condition though: if the stuff doesn’t make us any money, we’re getting our money back! So this diary will document my Mass Control adventure and let everyone know whether or not Mass Control will work for me.

As someone who used to give advice on achieving work-life balance, I was mystified when I read somewhere that “balance” was a myth. What we should aim for is “rhythm”. It got me to thinking: “Have I been wrong this whole time?”
The Unlimited Freelancer: A Review
Mason Hipp and James Chartrand of Freelancefolder.com have written this 200-page guide to turning freelancing from a j*o*b to a business. After devouring the E-book and implementing some of the strategies, I am no longer worried about acquiring more clients than I can handle (a happy problem I have been anticipating and dreading). I also now have a more professional but affordable means of invoicing my clients and bookkeeping. Plus, I can see clearly how I could easily exceed my target monthly income – without working seven days a week.
What’s the difference? Well, a freelancing job is when you do everything yourself. You’re essentially trading hours for dollars. You’re probably overwhelmed with everything you need to get done, are always scrambling to find new clients, and can’t take a day off.

Almost a year ago, I posted about experiencing information overload while trying to figure out this Internet marketing thing. Well the other day, it dawned on me that I no longer felt information overload. I no longer felt like a newbie. I can actually understand all the Internet marketing jargon. And whenever I receive an E-mail trying to sell me yet another Internet marketing product, I could easily tell if it was something worth my time, effort and money. I am now confidently deleting those E-mails rather than getting seduced by the gurus’ slick copywriting and bonuses.
I can credit my newfound confidence and focus to finding the right teachers. One of them is Amy Bass, a homeschooling Mom of 4 who recently launched a membership site to teach others how to make money from blogs. Amy blogged herself out of a $72,000 debt and is now earning $5,000 a month.
